Recommended kits for stock – 550 RWHP Cobras
Ram Air Intake or Cold Air Intake
Above 550 RWHP
Ram Air Intake or 12” High Boost Cold Air Intake
Ram Air Intakes:
Pros: price, ease of install, easy to remove for spark plug checking and changing, supports power levels from stock to 800 RWHP
Cons: Filter under the hood = higher inlet air temps, looks- not as clean looking as CAI
Cold Air Intake:
Pros: Looks great and clean, supports power levels from stock to 550 RWHP, MAF & filter in the fender well = consistent and low inlet air temps, cooler temps make more power. Average 5-10 RWHP more power than under hood kits.
Cons: Higher price than RAI, slightly harder install than RAI, filter is low in the bumper, not recommended for daily drivers in areas prone to flooding, heavy rain or deep puddles.
12” High Boost Cold Air Intake:
Pros: Looks great, flows massive amounts of air, recommended for cars above 600 RWHP, supports over 800 RWHP, integrated 105mm MAF, no couplers or reducers for smaller MAF, 12” filter in fender well = consistent and low inlet air temps, 15-25 RWHP more than most other kits on the market.
Cons: requires SCT or JLT MAF, requires custom tuning, tight fit with some blower combos, install
Textured Black, Body Color or Carbon Fiber?
All make the same power, so it comes down to looks and cost.
Upgrade Kits are ONLY for existing JLT owners who want to upgrade their old JLT kit to the Next Generation kit.
